Brimmond Medical Group announced in April that it planned to withdraw from its service contract, which left a number of local residents worried over whether they would still be registered with a doctor this October.
Following this news, Donside MSP Mark McDonald and Alex Salmond MP/MSP met for crunch talks with NHS Grampian Chief Executive Malcolm Wright and senior NHS staff seeking assurances that a long term solution would be found in the best interests of local healthcare provision.
The new Dyce Medical Praqctice, operating from Dyce Health Centre, opened on Thursday 1st October, with patients from Dyce, Newmachar and Hattan of Fintray. Gilbert Road Medical Group has taken on patients in the Bucksburn and Blackburn areas. All patients have been individually informed of their new arrangements.
Both practices remain independent, with New Dyce Medical Practice commencing a new model of care incorporating a cross section of clinical professionals, including nurse practitioners, physicians associates and pharmacists alongside their ore group of GPs. The response from NHS Grampian has shown a clear long-term commitment to community GP provision in Donside.
