Following a series of successful meetings and correspondence; Mr McDonald in his latest letter to council leader Jenny Laing highlighted the importance of giving parents complete transparency on the Inclusion Review prior to the end of the school term.
“There are already a great many concerns being aired on social media forums, but some are also being raised directly with teachers who, while they can address some of the immediate concerns, are finding it difficult to give longer term information.
“Councillor Laing very kindly met with me to discuss this matter and we agreed at the time that the best approach to take was for there to be an open channel of communication, as what we both want is for parents and families, as well as teaching staff, to have certainty about the timescales involved and what the direct implications are for their child's education.
“With that in mind, I have asked Councillor Laing to consider convening a special meeting of the ASN parent forum, with a specific agenda to discuss what the inclusion review will mean for the education of children in the short, medium and long term and giving more clarity on the timescales that are attached to some of the recommendations of the review.”
