The Aberdeen Donside MSP has received generous sponsorship donations for SensationALL, a Westhill based centre which supports families of children and adults by providing therapeutic activities for individuals with multiple support needs.
Mark McDonald MSP said: “SensationALL has been very supportive of my family, and we have benefited greatly from some of the sessions my wife and I have taken our son to. There are a variety of reasons that someone may need sensory therapies, but the group doesn’t dwell on the challenges a person is facing, instead it provides a vibrant and welcoming space to get the best out of everyone they help and focus on the positives.
"I wanted to try and give back to this charity after being so well treated by them, and somehow donning my running shoes and getting a bit out of puff in front of thousands of people somehow seemed like a good way to go about it! I am delighted to have raise more than £1000 already, and am hoping some more donations come in before the big race on Sunday.
“Having a child or caring for a relative who has any disability can feel isolating at times, but coming together with other parents who understand the experience you are going through can be very helpful. SensationALL offers such unique and interactive experiences for kids, which as well as being therapeutic are just really good fun. Any support we can give to this fantastic group will go toward delivering amazing services and provide a huge help for families locally, and that will be my motivation to finish in quick time on Sunday.”
Mark McDonald finished the race in less than an hour, raising £1,150 for SensationALL. He commented, "Thanks to everyone who sponsored me and cheered me on today at the Baker Hughes 10K. I'm delighted to have raised money for SensationALL, a brilliant local charity!"
